What are self-tapping inserts for?

Self-tapping inserts, also known as self-tapping bushings, are precision-made fasteners used in various industries. Their main task is to make it possible to create durable threaded connections in materials with low mechanical strength, such as plastics, wood, aluminum, brass and of various kinds technical foams.

The conical shape at the bottom and the notching groove mean that a threaded hole is not needed to install the insert. When screwing the insert into a hole with smooth walls, the thread is cut on its own. Due to the locking of the sleeve in the hole, it is obtained reliable and permanent fixation.
