Mechanically machined steel and aluminum plates

The production includes special steel and aluminum plates based on CAD data or drawings for stamping and shaping tools and machine building. Precisely machined steel and aluminum plates meet the highest quality requirements. For production we use only steel and aluminum from Europe.

What is the process of processing steel and aluminum plates?

Milling of steel and aluminum plates is a precise machining method, which consists in removing material using rotating cutting tools (cutters). This process is used to obtain complex shapes, precise dimensions and smooth surfaces. Below is a detailed description of the milling process of both types of plates, taking into account their specific requirements.

Preparation of the material

-
Selection of the plateA: Depending on the design specifications, the appropriate steel or aluminum plate is selected.
- Fixing the plate: The plate is fixed on the table of the milling machine with the help of vises, clamps or special magnetic mounts (for steel) or vacuum systems (for aluminum).

Selection of tools

- Type of milling cutter: Carbide cutters, steel or coated with special coatings (e.g. TiN) for steel and special cutters for aluminum that have the appropriate blade geometry are used.
- Tool parametersA: They are selected according to the type of material, the thickness of the plate and the requirements for surface finishing.

Setting the milling parameters

- Spindle speed: Adapted to the type of material — higher for aluminum, lower for steel.
- Feed speed: Higher for aluminum, due to lower hardness, and correspondingly lower for steel.
- Cutting depth: Determined based on the thickness of the plate and the required machining precision.

Milling process

- Parallel cutter transitions: The tool moves over the surface of the plate, removing the material layer by layer.
- Cooling: Coolants are used that reduce the heat generated during machining and extend the life of the tools. In the case of aluminum, cooling is especially important to prevent tools from sticking.

Quality Control:
- Measurement of dimensions: Dimension verification with micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring tools.
- Surface assessment: Inspection of the quality of the surface finish for roughness and possible damage.

Soothing

Milling of steel and aluminum plates is a process that requires precise settings and the right tools. Steel requires more robust tools and more careful working parameters due to its higher hardness, while aluminum allows for faster machining, but requires attention in cooling and lubrication to prevent tools from sticking. In both cases, quality control is crucial to ensure compliance with project requirements.
