Brass, which, despite the passage of centuries, still amazes with its form and versatility, is an alloy of copper and zinc, where the zinc content does not exceed 45%. The rest of the alloy is mainly copper, with possible additions of other metals such as aluminum, chromium, iron, tin or manganese. The history of brass dates back to antiquity, where was used to make objects by fusing copper with zinc ores such as smitsonite and hemimorphite, as evidenced by archaeological finds.
An important step in the development of brass technology was the mastery of zinc distillation, which took place in Zawar (India) in the 9th century CE. This technology reached Europe only in the first half of the 18th century. Since then, the potential offered by the production of parts from this copper-zinc alloy began to be exploited more widely.
The first thing that attracts attention is the characteristic color of brass, which can be orange-yellow or golden-yellow, depending on the zinc content — the more zinc, the more orange hue. In addition, like other copper alloys, brass as a result of oxidation becomes covered with a bluish-green patina layer. This layer performs a protective function, protecting the material from external factors and corrosion. Compared to other alloys, including various types of steel, brass has a much better durability.
Brass is distinguished by its excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, with its electrical conductivity ranging from 23% to 44% that of pure copper. In addition, brass is characterized by high ductility and plasticity and a fairly high density, ranging from 8.44 to 8.75 g/cm³, which affects its weight. These properties make brass an ideal material for machining. At CNCPartner manufacture of precision parts Brass is a key area of our business. We use different grades of brass in our work to meet the requirements of our customers.
They consist exclusively of copper and zinc in different proportions. As the zinc content increases, the alloy gains durability and strength.
They contain lead, which makes the material softer and easier to machine.
The addition of nickel gives the alloy a silvery color, which becomes shiny after polishing.
They contain additional elements such as aluminum, silicon or chromium, which improves their resistance to rust.
We have experience in manufacturing brass parts for various industries. Below are some of them:
From brass we make, for example, valves, nipples, fittings.
We produce connectors, nipples, bulkhead fittings.
From brass we produce plug pins for devices measuring the voltage of electric current.
We mainly produce brass inserts, which are subjected to plastic injection moulding, used for the assembly of vehicle interior components, as well as components for LPG installations.
We produce high quality nozzles for gas stoves.
If your company is looking for precision brass parts, you are in the right place. We offer production of the highest quality, fast turnaround times and delivery to the indicated location. At CNCPartner, we specialize in the manufacture of high quality brass components for various industrial sectors, including hydraulics and automotive. Our manufacturing standards allow you to create parts with a diameter of up to fi 32. Send us your design and we will prepare a free quote for you!
